Certain conversations are worth recording, but most instant messengers don't come with such capabilities. If you are a Skype user, you can record your conversations with Callnote. It places many useful features at your disposal, like audio and video recording, the possibility of taking snapshots or uploading the recordings to the Internet.

The software is available in regular and premium editions, which are both free, and it also comes in a professional version, which is not free, but it includes more features. Obviously, you need to have Skype installed on your computer, before setting up Callnote. It takes about a minute to download and install Callnote and you can use it on any mid range computer.

Callnote provides a tabbed user interface on which you can start recording your Skype calls, manage your recordings and connect the software to Evernote, DropBox, Facebook or YouTube. While voice chatting on Skype, you only need to click a Record option, on the application's interface. Options for recording and stopping and for taking snapshots are displayed on a small panel as well, in the lower right corner of the screen, during a conversation.

The program can also start recording automatically, when you engage in a conversation. Additionally, you can set it to notify the participants that the conversation is being recorded. Video and audio recordings, snapshots and chat logs are listed on the Library tab and you can filter them. You can also edit and tag individual items and upload them to Evernote, DropBox, Facebook or YouTube. Before uploading a recording, you must link Callnote to an online account. Furthermore, you can set the software to automatically upload your contents and to ask for confirmation first.

Pros

You can record Skype conversations, take snapshots and more. The software can be set to record automatically, when you start a conversation. It can also upload your recordings to Evernote, DropBox, Facebook or YouTube.

Cons

Certain features are reserved for the Professional version. Callnote can record your conversations and upload them to the Internet right away, without too much user input.
